Home Defense 1
Class Overview
Our Home Defense course will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of how to prepare one’s homes in order to deter and protect against intruders, as well as how to handle a variety of life-threatening scenarios in their homes. We will cover the planning and implementation of defensive procedures. This will include discussions about a number of defensive tools as an alternative to firearms such as tasers, pepper spray, etc.
Students will learn how to safeguard their homes by identifying soft points, making their homes more secure with simple measures, assisting family members in an emergency, and if the situation arises, dealing with a home invasion and possible armed intruder using whatever force necessary to stop the threat.
Class will be held at an offsite location (a house in Tarzana) – address will be provided privately a week before class. We will conduct a variety of home invasion scenarios and students will have to think on their feet to effectively identify and address the problem. Simunitions will be used as a part of this training.

- Lecture and discussion about Use of Force laws
- Setting up your home to deter intruders
- Identifying ‘soft’ points in the home
- Effective utilization of home interior layouts
- Warning signs to watch out for
- Non-firearms related equipment to keep at home
- What firearms and calibers are most suitable for home defense
- Where and how to store firearms and how to access them effectively with and without children in the home
- Methods of movement and room to room engagement
- Movement with family members
- Egress from the home
- Effective engagement of intruders
Equipment
- All simunitions, sims guns and related gear will be provided by ITTS
- Pen and notepad
- Eye protection
- Dress in layers
- Water and lunch
- DO NOT BRING ANY FIREARMS TO CLASS – If you are a CCW holder please make alternative plans for your handgun as it will not be allowed inside the house for safety reasons.

Prerequisites:
If you have not completed the prerequisite class with ITTS, but you have prior formal training that was recent and comprable in both subject matter and duration, contact us to discuss your candidacy for this class. Your prior training will need to have been from a qualified and verifiable source that meets our school’s standards.
LEO & Military may be exempt from this prerequisite. contact us to discuss.
